FAQ about Web Push Campaigns

Web Push Campaigns FAQ explains setup, targeting, delivery, and troubleshooting for Web Push campaigns.

Why are the actual delivered Web Push title/description missing characters?

The Web Push notification title/description length depends on factors such as operating system, screen size, width, and input language. Therefore, it might vary from device to device. If the limit is exceeded for a device, the title/description may appear trimmed when delivered. It is best practice to pay attention to copywriting and keep the content brief. Note that using CAPITAL letters also increases the character size and thus negatively affects the character limits. Always test your notifications before sending them.

Can I add a logo to the CTA buttons for Web Push?

No, CTA buttons only support emoji characters.

Can I limit the number of Web Push notifications sent to a user?

Channel Frequency Capping sets the limit for the daily number of notifications for all Web Push campaigns.

Frequency Capping is also available in the Rules step for Cart Reminder and Back in Stock push campaigns. It sets the limit for the daily number of notifications a user can receive from that specific campaign.

Why do I see high traffic on the website after a Single Push notification is sent?

Sending a Single Web Push notification has nothing to do with the website. The traffic is generated by clicks on these notifications and landings on the website. If your website cannot handle this high traffic, for such cases, Insider has a throttling feature that allows you to add a 10-second delay between 10,000 users, if enabled. Reach out to the Insider One team to allow it to if necessary.

Why did the user receive the notification after Time to Live (TTL) expired?

The Push Service (GCM) is responsible for complying with the TTL value. Even if the push service sends the notification at the right time or removes it, the browser decides when to wake the service worker and terminate it. The browser or operating system might keep the Service Worker idle for battery or performance-saving purposes. So, a notification might have arrived in the browser from the push service at the right time before the TTL expires, but it might not have been displayed by the browser yet. That is also why the user sometimes receives notifications all at once when the browser wakes up the Service Worker.

What image extensions are supported for the message icon?

You can use .png, .jpg, and .jpeg image extensions for the message icon.

What is the character limit for titles and messages in Web Push notifications?

The exact limit varies depending on factors such as the operating system, browser, and the inclusion of notification elements like images, action buttons, and URLs. However, the only strict constraint is the total push payload size (including all fields and the JSON), which should remain under 4 KB.

Can I use unique coupon codes in my Web Push campaigns?

No, you cannot. Instead, you can type single codes, such as COUPON10, in your Web Push notification to offer discounts to your users.

Can I send a recurring Web Push campaign?

Yes, you can send a recurring Web Push notification. If you want your users to receive Web Push notifications daily, weekly, or monthly after scheduling them once, you can send them recurring Web Push notifications. In the Launch step of your campaign, select the Send Recurring option and set the recurrence together with the start and end time.

Where can I see the builder ID of my Web Push campaign?

Check the campaign via the InOne panel; you can see the ID from the Web Push campaign URL.

Why am I receiving an error while duplicating a Web Push campaign?

A limit is applied to duplicating campaigns: You can duplicate a maximum of 15 Web Push campaigns in one minute. The same rule applies to creating, editing, launching, and deleting a Web Push campaign.
