Connect Work Management Tools to Insider One

Prev Next

You can connect a work management tool, such as Monday.com, to Insider One in two directions. To notify your tool when a user reaches a step in a journey, use the Architect Call an API element. To bring data from your tool into Insider One user profiles, use the Upsert User Data API.

This guide describes an integration through Insider One's standard APIs and the Architect Call an API element. It does not describe a native connector for Monday.com or other work management tools. Your team or integration provider builds and operates the endpoints and jobs on your side.

How it works

Send a request from a journey to your work management tool

Architect Call an API

When a user reaches that step, the journey sends an HTTP request with a payload you define to an endpoint you specify.

Upsert User Data API

Your integration job reads the data from your tool, maps it to API payloads, and sends requests to Insider One.

Send a request from a journey

The Call an API element sends an HTTP request to an external endpoint at a defined point in a journey. Use it when an action in a journey should trigger something in your work management tool, for example, asking your team to follow up with a user who reached a specific step.

  1. Prepare the endpoint that receives the request. This can be an API endpoint of your work management tool or a service you operate in front of it.

  2. Add a Call an API element to your journey and configure the endpoint, the request details, and the payload.

  3. Test the request before you use it in a live journey.

Call an API sends one request per user at that step, so it is not a bulk data tool. The user proceeds to the next step in the journey whether the request succeeds or fails.

For setup and request configuration, see Architect Channel: Call an API.

Bring data into Insider One

The Upsert User Data API sends user attributes and events to Insider One. If a profile exists for the identifier you send, the API updates it. If no matching profile exists, the API creates one. Use it when information kept in your work management tool should be available on the user profile for segmentation or journey decisions.

  1. Plan the user data you will send and get the plan approved by the Insider One team. Then use the Upsert User Data API Integration Wizard to generate an API key, configure headers, and prepare payloads.

  2. Build an integration job that retrieves the required records from your work management tool through a method that tool supports.

  3. Transform the records into the required API payload. Place user identifiers under the identifiers object, and use one identifier per user object where possible.

  4. Test the mapping with a small sample and review the API responses.

For payload parameters, limits, and error handling, see Upsert User Data API. To generate an API key, you need an Administrator role.
