Crowd-based Product Feed Collection (Clickstream)

For Smart Recommender and Eureka to have an up-to-date product catalog database for each account, the Crowd-based Product Feed Collection is one of the methods.

This article answers the questions below:

How does Crowd-based Product Feed Collection work?

Product Catalog Integration through Clickstream Data collects product fields and attributes data from your users' product view actions through defined System Rules or SDK integration on Mobile Apps.

This integration type requires integrating System Rules, and Insider will then collect and process all the product information.

What are the required attributes?

The default product attributes are the ones that Insider's product feed collects. Required fields must exist on your product detail page to insert/update the specific product. If the attribute you want is not among the default ones, navigate through Components > Product Catalog Management > Product Attributes to add a new custom product attribute.

If a custom product attribute that exists on your website is not added to Product Attributes, Insider's product feed cannot process it.

If you are integrating your product catalog through Clickstream Data, we highly suggest you consider the following information:

  • Clickstream Integration has limitations
    • Changes to the HTML parent-class structure on your website might prevent Insider from collecting product attributes.
    • Modifying the class or ID of any product attribute could affect Insider's ability to gather product data.
    • Altering the data type of a product attribute might result in unsuccessful data collection by Insider.
  • Clickstream Integration relies on user visits and website traffic

Insufficient website traffic might limit Insider’s ability to update product information.

  • Out-of-Stock product detection may be limited with Clickstream

Hitchecker does not guarantee accurate detection of out-of-stock products. It determines stock status based on the absence of visits for a specific product within a predefined interval, which may lead to inaccuracies.
