For Smart Recommender to operate its recommendation engine and deliver personalized product suggestions, your product catalog must be integrated. Insider stores product catalog details in its Product Catalog Database and processes updates regularly to ensure recommendations remain accurate and up to date.
Product Catalog Database integration can be completed using one of the following three methods:
Make sure the Insider Tag is integrated into your website to enable data collection and mapping.
Crowd-based Product Feed Collection (Clickstream)
- Insider collects catalog information directly from customer interactions.
- Product details are processed whenever users visit your website and product detail pages.
- The Clickstream method requires integrating Insider System Rules, after which Insider automatically collects and processes the product information.
XML-Based Product Catalog Integration
- You can provide an XML product catalog as the data source for Insider’s product feed.
- Integration is done via the Insider InOne Panel.
- All product attributes in the XML file can be mapped to Insider Custom Product Attributes within the panel.
Product Catalog API Integration
Catalog information can be sent directly through Insider’s Product Catalog API.
This method allows you to insert and update product data programmatically via the data ingestion API.
XML and API integrations cannot be used simultaneously. You can only enable and maintain one method at a time.
