Identity Resolution Management

Identity Resolution Management, also known as merging a customer's profile across devices or building a single customer view, is the process by which Insider One identifies anonymous visitors and consolidates their behavioral and profile data from web, mobile app, and API sources into a single profile in the Unified Customer Database.

It is built on two distinct operations:

Identification is the process of recognizing who a user is. An anonymous visitor becomes a known user when they are identified by a unique value, such as an email address, phone number, or UUID. Without identification, Insider One cannot associate a user's activity across sessions or platforms.

Unification is the process of merging data from a known user across different platforms and devices into a single profile. For example, if a user browses on two different browsers and then identifies on one, their activity across both is consolidated based on their most recent identifier. Unification requires identification; a user's data cannot be merged across platforms until they are known on each one.

Insider One provides a set of configurable settings that control how identification and unification are handled for your account.
