Shopify Checkout Extensibility Upgrade

You cannot make any changes to External Platform Integrations without having either an Administrator or an Editor with PII access in InOne. Refer to User Roles for further information.

Shopify Checkout Extensibility is a functionality introduced by Shopify that allows merchants to customize their checkout process more extensively, efficiently, and securely. It provides developers and merchants with tools and APIs to customize different aspects of the checkout experience without needing to edit the code directly. This feature aims to improve the speed, seamlessness, and conversion rates of the checkout experience for buyers.

For further information on Checkout Extensibility, refer to the Shopify documentation.

Checkout Extensibility Upgrade

In line with Shopify's latest updates, beginning August 13, 2024, the checkout. liquid functionality for information, shipping, and payment pages will be disabled for Shopify Plus stores.

Moreover, effective August 28, 2025, the checkout.liquid functionality of Shopify Plus stores for thank-you and order status pages will also be disabled and will no longer be supported. This entails discontinuing apps, including Insider One, that use script tags and additional scripts on the post-purchase and order status pages.

How does this affect your Insider One integration?

If checkout extensibility is active, the following functionalities will be affected:

  • Insider One will not be able to track conversions on the InOne analytics dashboard (though Insider One will still collect purchase events for segmentation, and you will be able to see these on User Profiles).

  • None of the predictive algorithms will be affected, as we can account for API calculations when processing.

  • You will not be able to trigger OnSite, Smart Recommender, or Web Push campaigns on order status pages.

  • You will not be able to segment based on purchase data for OnSite, Smart Recommender, or Web Push campaigns on order status pages.

What do you need to do?

If you haven't yet upgraded to the checkout extensibility feature, you can continue using your existing integration.

However, if you have upgraded or plan to upgrade to checkout extensibility, you need to create a custom pixel on your Shopify Store and integrate Insider One back to maintain Insider One integration on your order status page. To create a Custom Pixel for the upgrade, follow the steps outlined below:

How can you check if your store is upgraded to Checkout Extensibility?

To check if you've upgraded to checkout extensions, go to your Shopify admin > Settings > Checkout. Look for the Upgrade to Checkout Extensibility section. If you find the option to upgrade, it indicates that your store has not yet been upgraded to the Checkout Extensibility feature.

Newly created stores are automatically upgraded to Checkout Extensibility.

Custom Pixel can be implemented by both Shopify and Shopify Plus Stores.

How will Custom Pixel help?

Insider One will be able to track conversions on the InOne analytics dashboard. Insider One will still collect purchase events for segmentation, which you can view on user profiles.

You will be able to segment based on purchase data, OnSite, Smart Recommender, and Trigger Web Push campaigns on order status pages.

But still, you will not be able to trigger OnSite, Smart Recommender, and Web Push campaigns on order status pages.

If you are using a multi-domain panel in Insider One, reach out to the Insider One team for support.

Refer to the Shopify Custom Web Pixel article to implement the Custom Web Pixel.
