Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Prev Next

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA, in short) enables you to add an extra layer of security to your user ID, beyond a password, such as a confirmation from a smartphone or security device. The first authenticator is the user's password, and the second is the temporary security token provided by an authentication application. Two-factor authentication helps make your account safer than before, providing an extra layer of security beyond just a password and making it more difficult for unauthorized users to access the Insider One's InOne panel.

This guide answers the questions below:

Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

The importance of security in today's digital age is quite apparent. To strengthen account protection, Insider has made two-factor authentication (2FA) mandatory for both personal and account-level access. You don’t need to enable it manually—2FA is enabled by default for both levels.

We highly recommend generating backup codes in case you are unable to access the Authenticator app.

Account-Level Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Note that Two-Factor Authentication will be deactivated when SSO is enabled.

Set up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Since Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is mandatory, all users associated with your account must complete the setup process on their first login attempt to the InOne panel. To complete the 2FA, follow these instructions:

Each user sees the two-factor authentication setup screen on their first login attempt and needs to complete the 2FA following these instructions:

  1. Download Google Authenticator, Twilio Authy, or any other app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

  2. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app.

  3. Once you scan the QR code, the preferred Authenticator App will generate a temporary 6-digit login code.

  4. Enter the code generated by your authenticator app and click the Continue button to access your backup codes.

A Backup Code is a unique code that is usually provided by services or sites once 2FA is enabled on an account. You can use one of these backup codes to log in to your account if you can’t access your authentication device. We highly recommend that you copy these codes and store them in a safe location, as each code can be used only once.

  5. After copying or downloading your backup codes, click Continue. If you click Done, you will complete the two-factor authentication setup and automatically log in.

Log in with Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

To log in with 2FA, you will be prompted to enter your username and password.

After successfully entering your credentials, an authentication app, such as Google Authenticator or Authy, will generate a unique code. You must enter this code on the login page to complete the process.

If you do not have access to your authentication app, you can also use the backup codes you created during setup.

You can also enable Remember this browser for 1 week, during which you will not be asked for an authentication code.

If you log in on another browser on the same device with Remember this browser for 1 week selected, you will be asked for the Authentication Code.

By requiring two forms of identification, 2FA helps to ensure that only the intended user can access their account, even if their password has been compromised. This added security layer helps protect sensitive information and prevent unauthorized access.

Generate new Backup Codes

You also have the option to generate new backup codes. Backup codes are one-time use codes that can be used to log in if you cannot access your authentication app. To generate new backup codes:

  1. Log in to the InOne panel.

  2. Navigate to Inone Settings > Personal Settings.

  3. Scroll down to Two-Factor Authentication.

  4. Click Generate New Backup Codes.

  1. Enter the password you use to log into your account. Click the Continue button to proceed.

  2. The new set of backup codes will be generated automatically. You can copy or download these codes and store them for future use. Click Done to finalize the process.

Reset Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

If you change your device with the authentication app, Insider provides a Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) setup reset option to ensure a seamless login experience.

To reset the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) setup via InOne panel:

  1. Log in to the InOne panel.

  2. Navigate to User Management, which is located under your email address in the top right corner of the screen.

  3. Find the user for whom you want to reset the Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) setup, and click on the menu against their row.
