A User Acceptance Testing (UAT) panel provides a separate Insider One panel for validating your setup on a non-production website or mobile application before moving to your production panel.
You can use a UAT panel to test the Insider One products, integrations, data collection, and personalizations included in your testing scope without affecting the experience on your live website or application.
Products and channels can be activated in a UAT panel based on your testing needs. Activate only the products and channels required for the scenarios you plan to validate.
This guide uses UAT panel for the Insider One panel used in pre-production testing. Your organization might use terms such as sandbox or test environment for the same testing purpose.
Understand UAT and production panels
UAT and production panels work as separate Insider One panels. Each panel has its own account details, credentials, integrations, product configurations, and campaigns.
Panel | Purpose |
|---|---|
UAT panel | Validate the required products, integrations, data collection, and user experiences on a non-production website or application. |
Production panel | Configure and launch your approved setup for your live website, application, and users. |
Completing a configuration in the UAT panel does not automatically copy it to the production panel. Configure and validate the required settings separately in production before launch.
Shared MTU quota: UAT and production panels use the same Monthly Tracked Users (MTU) quota. Use controlled test users and avoid sending high volumes of user data to your UAT panel.
Decide what to test
Define your test scope before requesting product activation for your UAT panel. Your test scope can include:
Web SDK and Mobile SDK integrations
Events, attributes, parameters, and identifiers
User data integrations and API requests
Web and mobile app experiences
Product Catalog integrations
Campaigns and personalizations required for the test
Selected messaging or transactional scenarios
Focus on the products and channels required for your pre-production validation. You do not need to activate every product available in your production panel.
Data structure: Test integrations can create new events, attributes, and parameters. Review your planned data structure before sending test data so that you do not create unnecessary fields or consume account limits.
Request a UAT panel
Contact Insider One team to request a UAT panel. Provide the following information with your request:
Account name: Specify the production account associated with the request.
Non-production environment: Provide the test website domain or mobile application.
Products and channels: List the Insider One products and channels required for testing.
Testing scope: Describe the integrations, data collection, campaigns, personalizations, or user journeys you plan to validate.
Expected timeline: State when you plan to start testing and move the setup to production.
Insider One reviews the requested scope and prepares the UAT panel with the required product activations.
Prepare your UAT panel
After your UAT panel becomes available, configure the products and integrations required for your testing scope.
Connect the UAT panel to the intended non-production website or mobile application.
Use the partner name, partner ID, API keys, and other credentials assigned to the UAT panel.
Configure the required SDKs, APIs, data collection methods, and product integrations.
Use controlled test users and test data.
Validate the expected events, attributes, parameters, identifiers, and user experiences.
Record the configurations that you need to create in the production panel.
Account credentials: UAT and production panels use different account details and credentials. Replace the UAT partner information and credentials with the production values when moving your integration to production.
Complete onboarding steps in production
Complete the Data Plan and Use Case steps in your production panel. You can test the related integration by using your UAT panel details, including its partner name and partner ID.
Data Plan and Use Case configurations do not move automatically from the UAT panel to the production panel. Review and complete the required configurations in production before launch.
When you complete an Onboarding Center flow while using a UAT account, Insider One can remind you to continue the required setup in your production account.
For example, you can use a linked UAT account to test the Upsert User Data API integration before switching to your production credentials. For detailed instructions, refer to Upsert User Data API Integration Wizard.
Use Test Lab for Mobile SDK validation
Use Test Lab when you need to validate Mobile SDK events and attributes on a connected test device. Test Lab provides code snippets and displays the results returned for the tested events and attributes.
Test Lab supports a specific Mobile SDK testing process inside Insider One. Use a UAT panel when you need a separate panel for broader pre-production configuration and integration testing.
For setup and testing instructions, refer to Mobile App: Test Lab.
Move your setup to production
After completing your UAT tests, prepare the corresponding configuration in your production panel.
Complete the required Data Plan and Use Case steps in production.
Configure the applicable products, integrations, credentials, and campaigns in the production panel.
Replace UAT account details with production account details in your integration.
Verify event, attribute, parameter, identifier, and consent mappings.
Run controlled tests in the production panel.
Confirm the expected results before enabling production traffic or launching campaigns.
Testing scope: A successful UAT test validates the products, configurations, integrations, and scenarios included in that test. Complete the applicable checks again after configuring your production panel.
