Common Errors and Required Actions for Remarketing Ad Audiences

This article explains the most common errors you may encounter while syncing Ad Audiences to Facebook (Meta), Google Ads, and TikTok Ads, along with the actions required to resolve them.

Some errors are platform-specific, while others can occur across multiple ad platforms. Each section clearly indicates where the error may appear.

Authentication and Authorization Errors

Access Token Expired, or Authentication Failed

This error means the access token used to connect your ad account has expired or is no longer valid. Insider One cannot authenticate with the ad platform.

To solve this issue:

  1. Go to Integration Settings.

  2. Reconnect your ad account.

  3. Complete the login and authorization flow again.

This solution is available for:

  • Facebook Ads

  • Google Ads

  • TikTok Ads

Not Authorized to Access Ad Account

This error means the connected user does not have sufficient permissions to access or manage the ad account.

To solve this issue:

  • Ensure the user has the required role:

    • Facebook: Admin or Advertiser

    • Google Ads: Admin

    • TikTok: Admin or Operator

  • If using a system user (Meta), ensure it is assigned to the ad account.

  • Ask your account administrator(for the remarketing channel) to grant the correct permissions

Account Status and Availability Errors

Ad Account Deleted, Suspended, or Not Active

This error means the ad account linked to the audience is no longer active or has been removed from the ad platform.

To solve this issue:

  • Check the account status directly in the ad platform

  • Reactivate the account if possible

  • If the account was deleted, connect a valid ad account in Integration Settings

Ad Account Not Linked to Required Business Entity

This error means the ad account is not properly linked to the required business structure (Business Manager / Business Center).

To solve this issue:

  • Facebook: Ensure the ad account is linked to a Business Manager.

  • TikTok: Ensure the ad account is linked to a Business Center.

  • Verify ownership and asset assignment.

Audience Validation and Policy Errors

Audience Violates Platform Terms & Conditions

This error means the audience does not comply with the ad platform’s policies (for example, restricted data usage or policy violations).

To solve this issue:

  • Review the platform’s advertising and audience policies.

  • Update your segment definition if required.

  • Retry syncing after making changes.

This solution is available for:

  • Facebook Ads

  • TikTok Ads

Audience Targeting Not Available in Selected Region

This error means the audience targeting is not supported in one or more regions selected in your audience.

To solve this issue:

  • Check regional targeting limitations in the ad platform.

  • Update the audience or campaign targeting settings.

  • Remove unsupported regions if necessary.

Sync and Processing Errors

Sync Failed During In-Progress

This error indicates that the audience sync process failed during execution. This may be temporary or caused by one of the errors above.

To solve this issue:

  • Click Check Errors to see detailed reasons

  • Resolve the listed issues

  • Retry syncing after fixes are applied

This solution is available for:

  • Facebook Ads

  • Google Ads

  • TikTok Ads

Audience Could Not Be Sent (Temporary Error)

This error means the platform could not process the audience at that moment. This may be a temporary issue.

To solve this issue:

  • Wait for some time and retry

  • If the issue persists, review authentication and account status

This solution is available for:

  • Facebook Ads

  • Google Ads

  • TikTok Ads

Identifier and Data Restrictions

Restricted or Limited Users in Audience

This error means a portion of users in the audience cannot be targeted due to platform-level restrictions (e.g. limited data usage).

To solve this issue:

  • Review platform policy restrictions

  • Adjust your audience definition if needed

  • Note that some restrictions cannot be overridden

  • TikTok Ads

Final Notes

  • Insider One lists all affected account names directly in the error message where applicable.

  • Audience syncing runs automatically, but platform-side processing times may vary.

  • Some errors require action in the ad platform itself and cannot be resolved from Insider One alone.

  • If you have selected multiple ad accounts or if multiple errors occur during the sync, an email notification will be sent to you. The email will include detailed information about all affected accounts and the related error reasons.
