Even if your settings are correctly configured, previous incorrect settings might cause Web Push notifications to malfunction due to invalid permissions or Service Worker states.

Reset Chrome on Android

If you see a notification from your site in your Android notification drawer, you can reset Chrome's settings or precise site-specific data to remove it.

  1. Open Chrome on your Android device.
  2. Go to your website that’s causing the notification.
  3. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
  4. Select Settings.
  5. Tap Site settings.
  6. Go to Notifications.
  7. Look for the website in the list and tap on it.
  8. Tap Clear & Reset. This will clear all data and reset permissions for that site.

Another way to clear site-specific notifications directly within Chrome on Android without needing an active notification:

  1. Open Chrome on your Android device.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Scroll down and tap on Site settings (under the "Advanced" section).
  5. Select Notifications.
  6. Ensure the Ask before sending (recommended) setting is enabled (it should show as a toggle switch that is On).
  7. Scroll through the list of sites under "Allowed" or "Blocked" notifications.
  8. Find the website causing the issue and tap on its entry.
  9. Tap on Clear & Reset.

This removes all notifications and resets permissions for that particular site, preventing it from sending further notifications unless you manually re-enable them.

  7. Click Finish, and Firefox will restart.

Reset Safari on macOS

Apple does not support Web Push for Safari on Windows. To remove notification permissions in Safari:

  1. Open Safari on your Mac.
  2. Click on Safari in the menu bar at the top, and select Settings (or Preferences, depending on your macOS version).
  3. Navigate to the Websites tab.
  4. In the left-hand sidebar, scroll down and click on Notifications.
  5. You’ll see a list of websites that have requested permission to send notifications.
  6. Find the website you want to remove and click on it.
  7. Click the Remove button at the bottom, or right-click on the site and select Remove.

This deletes the notification permissions for that specific site, preventing it from sending further notifications unless you re-allow them.
