# SMS

SMS, short for ‘Short Messaging Service’, is the service used to send text messages to users. Since it utilizes their personal phone number to reach them, SMS offers a more direct way to reach users than most other messaging channels. Thanks to SMS, you can contact your users anywhere in the world, at any time, even when they are offline.

The main purpose of the SMS channel is to reach your customer base with transactional and promotional message content. For promotional content, Insider One aims to provide you with Click-Through Rate (CTR) and Conversion Rate (CR) data for highly engaging campaigns such as [Cart Reminder](https://academy.useinsider.com/docs/create-a-cart-reminder-sms) and personalized messaging with dynamic content. With SMS, you can reach out to your users for the following use cases:

- Send offers and deals such as discount offers, limited-time promotions, etc.
- Share helpful tips and information such as appointment availability, service hours, etc.
- Collect customer feedback or information such as email addresses.
- Launch competitions with rewards.
- Experiment with new promotion techniques, such as a quiz with a coupon as a reward.
