Facebook Remarketing Integration

Prev Next

You cannot make any changes to External Platform Integrations without having either an Administrator or an Editor with PII access in InOne. Refer to User Roles for further information.

To use Facebook remarketing and send segments to Meta, you should:

  • Enable remarketing permission for your account.
  • Enable Facebook's custom audience terms.
  • Log in to your Facebook account on InOne. You should be able to create audiences and campaigns on Facebook Ads.

How can I start using Facebook Ads Remarketing?

Meta targets its users using their email addresses or phone numbers via an external data source. Therefore, you need to provide your users' email addresses or phone numbers, along with their GDPR opt-in status, to Insider One before starting to use Meta Custom Audiences. You can pass this data using the Upsert User API, Insider Object Integration, Web SDK or App SDK Integration.

  1. Go to Insider One's InOne panel and click on your user name to navigate to Inone Settings > Integration Settings > Facebook Ads Integration.
  2. Click the Continue with Facebook button to authenticate with your Facebook Business Manager account. Once authenticated, the integration will require permission to access any Facebook Ad account linked to your Facebook Business Manager account. This image shows how to start facebook ads integration.
  3. You will see a table below the connection button. Add your Ad account user to the table.
  4. You will see that your connected account resides under the table below.
If you receive any errors during these steps, refer to Facebook Ads Authentication Error Codes.
Attribute selection is not required, as both email and phone number are sent to Facebook by default.
To remove a user from your Facebook Ads integration, click the Remove button next to the user's name.

Send a segment from Insider One to Facebook Ads

You can start sending the segments you want to Facebook Ads through the corresponding icons on the Dynamic Segments listing page.

You must have one of three specified levels of InOne panel access user roles to send the segment to the Ads channels; otherwise, you will encounter an error message. These roles are:
- Administrator
- Editor
- Collaborator
Additionally, the user intending to send the segments to the Ads channels must have admin access in their corresponding Ads account profile.

This image shows how to send a segment to facebook ads.

The modal opens when you click the button to send the segment to Facebook to sync the audience. You need to select the Facebook Ads account, enable the Start sending toggle to validate sending, and then click the Save button.

The audiences you send to Meta get populated after midnight.

Once the segment is sent from Insider One, you can view the audiences that Insider One sent, which have an “insider” prefix. This image shows the audience sent from Insider to facebook ads.

You can also follow the same steps to send your audience based on Uninstall Analytics to Facebook Ads. To do this, create your segment and select Standard > Attributes > Mobile App Uninstall Date segment.
When you pause a segment in the remarketing accounts, it remains paused; it is not deleted.
Meta accepts phone numbers with or without the '+' sign, but each phone number must include a country code. Here is an example of what might happen if you send phone numbers without the + sign:
You will create a custom audience list that includes many people from your database.
When you try to use this custom audience list to target your ads, Facebook can only match a small percentage of the people on the list.
- This is because Facebook will not be able to match the phone numbers in your database to those in its database.

Accept the Facebook Custom Audience Terms

The Facebook Custom Audience Terms should be accepted to send the segment to the Facebook Ads side. If you click on the underlined title in the error toaster, you will be redirected to the manager page of the respective connected ads account.

You can accept the terms on the Facebook Ads account’s manager page and proceed to try to send your segment again to Facebook.

Please check the History tab of the Sent Segment in the Ads Manager for any relevant updates or changes.
Please note that the Facebook account admin must accept the terms of service. Individual Facebook users cannot create custom audiences. Additionally, you cannot accept the terms of service on behalf of another Facebook user.
