# Add a New Element

You can add an element to a [web template](/v1/docs/design-a-web-template) in two different ways:

## Add an individual element

To add an individual element, hover over a layout and click the **+(plus)** button to insert a new element into the selected area. You can add unlimited individual elements.

## Add an element to a layout

To add an element to a layout, click the **+(plus)** button in an empty layout or hover over an existing layout and click the **+(plus)** button to insert a new element. You can add up to four elements to a layout.
