# Change the Order of Elements in a Layout

While [designing](/v1/docs/design-a-web-template) a template, to change the order of elements within a layout, sort them directly in the left menu or use the **Switch Order** button on the canvas.

Keep in mind that you cannot move elements between different layouts or place them inside a layout if you originally added them as individual elements.
